Little Britain creators, Matt Lucas and
David Walliams are taking the BAFTA Award-winning BBC comedy show on the road as a live
show. The tour dates were released on Wednesday but other dates are
being added with Newcastle's City Hall the latest and as Dafydd might
say, it's "the only show in the village". Many people remember
Matt Lucas as George Doors, the hyperactive man-baby on the Reeves and
Mortimer game-show Shooting Stars. Matt then went on to create and star
in the spoof interview show Rock Profiles with David Walliams. Although
the pair enjoyed a cult following before Little Britain it was the big
time ratings-grabber which awarded them true fame. The shows format is a
series of character sketches lampooning the eccentricity of the
inhabitants of the UK. (Whatever to they mean?)
The first series did more for BBC 3 than
any other programme and was a digital smash-hit. The success was
repeated when it transferred to terrestrial television. In late 2004,
the first programme from the second series pulled in nearly 2m viewers -
a record for BBC3. Building on the show's appeal, they have now decided
to take to the idea on to the stage. The show marks their first live
work together since 1997.
