Gay Clubs and Pubs
Newcastle
The Yard
Scotswood Road, Newcastle
0191 232 2037

The dark and rather oppressive
courtyard of yesteryear was popular with the older crowd but a revamp
has transformed it into a fairly cosmopolitan bar complete with street
tables in Summer. The age range has now widened in what is now a
very open and airy bar.
Heavens Above
Churchill Street, Newcastle
0191 232 2037
The
upstairs to the yard, albeit with a separate entrance. The crowd tend to
be a little younger (and louder) . Don't strike any matches or create
any naked flames as the flammable body spray can be a little
over-powering!

Now
in it's third incarnation the Powerhouse remains hugely popular with the
late-night crowd. It has recently been the venue for performances by

Bar, DJ, dance floor, regular acts
Fri & Sun: "Cabaret"
Rockies
remains one of the most popular and long-established bars on the
Newcastle scene. The bar has a late licence which means it's often a
last stop for punters before hitting the clubs once their queues have
died down. This bar can get busy and is often standing room only.
Rock n Doris
Live Theatre, Broad Chare, Newcastle
0191 232 1232
Saturday night cabaret for
lesbians, gay men and their friends usually on around the end of each
month. It's best to phone for details beforehand.
The Dog
15 Malborough Crescent
0191 221 0775
2 bars, DJ, karaoke
The
Dog is a very popular club and can get quite crowded at the weekends.
Karaoke is a popular event. Those who want to save their ears from the
blast from the loudspeakers at
the club can stay downstairs.
There's a mixed crowd during the
day - including sections of the toon army footie fans lubricating their
throats before a match.

Twist
Times Square ,
Newcastle
Gay pub / restaurant
0191 261 7676
Twist is a recent and
welcome addition to the Newcastle scene. This pub/restaurant has the
feel of a busy modern cafe bar with tables outside in the main square.
This pub is not overtly gay but the clientele on a weekend give the game
away.
