Pride on Tyne
We aim to run activities that are
genuinely unique and responsive to the lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB)
communities in the region. Our events to entertain and celebrate LGB
communities include an annual summer festival with a big main event.
Pride on Tyne offers
something different to what is provided by the commercial scene.
- attracts a broader range of
people from the LGB communities than traditionally go out on the
commercial scene - particularly older people, lesbians and people with
children.
- brings LGB people into Newcastle
from across the region and other parts of the UK.
- provides support for people from
the LGB communities to organise their own cultural activities around
areas they are interested in.
- develops and showcases local LGB
talent
- endeavours within the
restrictions of our funding to bring nationally known LGB performers to
audiences in the North East.
Membership is free and open to any
lesbian, gay man or bisexual living in the North East. For details use
the contact details below or check out our official website.

STaG
South Tyneside and Gateshead Gay
and Bisexual Men's Project
We offer a range of services,
with a social or issue based activity each week. Around 15 men attend
each week and in 2001 we had 40 men come to the group for the first
time. Contact us for more details of what we're up to in the near
future. We usually meet at 7.30 pm in Gateshead but you'd be welcome to
turn up early as we always have a STaG worker on site from 7.00. For
exact venue details contact us...all the details are at the bottom of
this page.
We run a helpline for confidential
advice and information related to being gay or bisexual. Around half our
calls are from first time callers. Why do people call us? For all sorts
of reasons including; how to meet other men for friendship, doubts about
sexuality, issues to do with being married.
STaG also offers one-to-one advice
and information and a professional counselling service which is by
referral from one of our project workers and is free.
We can also provide training on
working positively with gay and bisexual men, to develop a greater
awareness of gay and bisexual men's issues.

It's a big step for many people to
pick up the phone and speak to a stranger, especially if they wish to
talk about what may be to them the biggest secret in the World. We
appreciate that, which is why we understand what courage it takes to
pick up the phone. Don't worry if you do and then you suddenly "dry up".
It's no big deal - we all understand. There's no hurry, just take your
time and speak when you feel you are able.
Everything you do say is treated
with the utmost respect and confidentiality. There's practically no
limit to what you may wish to discuss, and we have a wealth of
information should you require anything specific. You can talk to a man
or woman most week nights from 7pm to 10 pm.
Meetings are also held at our
offices which are close to the Central Station. Please phone us for
details.
We are always keen to recruit
volunteers, if you're interested then just give us a bell on the main
number.
A website is currently under construction.
