MoneySupermarket.com was launched in December 1999 and it’s stated purpose in life is to make it easy for the consumer to compare personal finance products.

Tens of thousands of people use the site each day to research and buy the best value financial products available in the UK today.

In 2002 the company sourced over £2 billion in personal loan lending alone. They generated over a million credit card applications and tens of thousands of other products such as secured loans, mortgages and insurance. With databases that hold nearly 100% of the UK’s personal finance products, some exclusive to MoneySupermarket, users will benefit from having truly searched the web for the best deals using links to MoneySupermarket.com.

Credit Card Balances

Credit Card companies are crying out for you to swap your existing balance to them. It's easier than you may think and you usually pay less interest or even 0% for a named period.

But it's all a bit confusing what with all those different rates and different reduced interest payment periods.

The Daily Mail offers an excellent credit card compare service on it's web site which you can access directly from here. Enter the name of your existing card, the outstanding balance, how much you spend on your card each month and it will calculate how much you can save by switching to any of the many other cards available.

Don't fib! - there's no point. You'll only get an inaccurate answer and besides the savings can be in £100s so it's best to get the best advice! There is also a useful credit card guide.

Remember to read the small print before applying for a card as you may not qualify for the advertised rate. And on some 0% transfer deals, conditions may apply.

The Lazy Man's Guide To Saving Money With His PC

OK so when you bought your PC you thought it would help you save money - perhaps by using it to keep track of your household accounts.

Personal money packages like Microsoft's MONEY are quite good at helping you budget and preventing the month being longer than your bank balance. Your computer though can save you much more through it's Internet connection.

So you need a loan, car insurance or are thinking of re-mortgaging - so how do you go about getting the best deal? Well you could take a week's holiday, lock yourself away somewhere with a phone surfacing only for coffee and natural breaks.

On the other hand, you could look at the website of one of the many 'comparison' sites now springing up on the net.

Essentially, these are companies that have realised comparing hundreds of possible deals for loans, insurance, mortgages and even electricity, gas and phone charges is mind numbingly boring to us humans.

On the other hands it's perfect for a computer - and a good idea for a business !

So they work on getting all the information available for all sorts of deals and then let the computer work out what's best.

Finally, let's not forget that when all else fails there's always The Lotto.

Now while we can't improve your chances of winning we can take the hassle of racing to the newsagents at the last minute away from you.

Signing up to buy your tickets couldn't be easier. You can buy your ticket for one draw or for several, you can choose your own numbers or play a 'Lucky Dip'.

What's more, Camelot will check your tickets for you and even e-mail you if you win!

Remember - If You Ain't In It You Can't Win It!

uSwitch operates in a similar way to both Money supermarket and Mobilechooser but in a different market - utilities. With competition between the electricity , gas and phone companies now rampant again the confusion abounds about just what IS the best deal. The company states its aim is to help customers take advantage of the best prices, offers and services from every supplier. They want to make it as easy as possible to compare and switch. Their service is based on the most up-to-date information from suppliers and regulators so you can be assured that their calculations are accurate.

The uSwitch.com website ranks number 2 in the UK for utilities sector. It receives more visitors than all of the supplier sites except British Gas. The company covers, gas, electricity, telephone and now digital TV.
